TED University Clinical Psychology PhD Program adopts the “Scientist-Practitioner” model, as in doctoral programs at other universities that provide world-class education in the field of applied psychology. This educational model, also known as the Boulder Model, is based on the principle of educating students both as scientists who produce knowledge and as practitioners who can put this knowledge into practice. The curriculum of the proposed program, which is based on this model, includes courses focusing on the scientific method; courses aiming to provide a solid theoretical background at an advanced level in the relevant field; practice-based courses for skill acquisition; supervision and internships. Within this framework, the program aims to train socially and ethically responsible doctoral clinical psychologists who are equipped with theoretical, research and practical knowledge and skills to work in the field of mental health as an academic or practitioner.
The program, which is based on the discipline of Clinical Psychology, offers a comprehensive education that allows students to concentrate in adult clinical psychology or child and adolescent clinical psychology according to their interests. The program, which is based on common compulsory courses that address current evidence-based approaches and methods in the fields of psychopathology, psychotherapy and assessment, which are the main topics of clinical psychology, and advanced research methods used in clinical psychology, is also a structure that allows students to differentiate between adult and child-adolescent clinical psychology and focus on one of these areas. Doctoral students are expected to choose one of the subfields of adult or child-adolescent clinical psychology for their supervision, internship and thesis studies. In addition to the compulsory and elective courses in the field of clinical psychology, the program includes elective courses from the fields of cognitive psychology and neuroscience, enriching students with the methods and perspectives of these different fields and enabling them to develop an interdisciplinary perspective.
TEDU Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program meets the requirements for the EuroPsy European Certificate in Psychology. EuroPsy is a professional certification developed by the European Federation of Psychologists (EFPA) to demonstrate competence and expertise for psychologists according to European quality standards.
The program is compatible with TEDU Quality Assurance System. Students are provided with the opportunity to deepen and develop their knowledge and skills in specific areas of interest through elective courses. Students in the Master's program can pursue one of the following two areas of concentration through elective courses in line with their academic and professional goals, or they can enrich their curriculum by taking courses from both areas.
